If you tuned into the 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards on Tuesday night, you know the City of Brotherly Love was holding it down—specifically in the cyphers. Philadelphia natives and Empire stars Yazz and Bre-Z, as well as State Property members Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Omillio Sparks, Peedi Crack, and Neef Buck stood strong in this year’s showcase. And, apparently, it was all thanks to Meek Mill.
Shortly after the award show’s broadcast, the Philly rapper went to Instagram to claim he was the reason why his home city received so much love.
“BY THE WAY...... I'm the one who pitched a philly cypher and getting philly more involved with @bet,” he wrote. “Alley ooping a n#%ga that's throwing shade but still catching blessings!”
The end of the caption is an obvious reference to Sigel, who has been feuding with Meek for weeks. It all started after Sigel claimed he had helped the Dreamchasers rapper write the lyrics for the "Ooouuu" remix, a diss track aimed at The Game. The beef quickly escalated last month, when Sigel was reportedly assaulted by one of Meek’s crew members. And it doesn’t look like they're going to squash this anytime soon.
On Tuesday, Sigel shared a preview of his upcoming Meek diss track, in which he can be heard rapping, “Somebody got to die/This guy, this guy/Even when somebody mama throwin’ a fish fry/Bigger the beef, bigger the clip size.”
