If it seems like the rollout for Iggy Azalea's next album Digital Distortion is taking forever, it's because, well, it kind of is. The first song from the album, "Azillion" was made available for free streaming nearly ten months ago in January, with the follow-up and lead single "Team" hitting the shelves in March. In May, she released a collaborative single with Britney Spears titled "Pretty Girls" and not much after that.

After a lot of fan speculation, Azalea has stepped forward to reveal what is actually causing the delay of Digital Distortion and apparently it has everything to do with her personal life and her failed relationship with NBA star Nick Young. "I needed a lot of time," she told PEOPLE Magazineon at the Longines Masters of Los Angeles Gala. "I mean, you wake up one morning and your fiancé is having a baby with someone else, you're going to need some time, right?"

As you might recall, Young and Azalea called off their engagement in June after he was discovered to be cheating on her. Shortly thereafter, Young announced that he was about to have his second child with his ex-girlfriend Keonna Green. The pair already have one kid together, a son named Nick Jr.

More than needing time to recover, it seems like Azalea also needed to get into a new headspace and wants her new album to reflect that. "I just kind of felt like, on top of me needing the personal time, then feeling, 'Okay, I'm single now. I want to have sexy songs. I want to say stuff about being single.'"
