Students at Drake University in Iowa have been waging a #BringDrakeToDrake campaign on social media to attract the Toronto rapper to his namesake university. Okay, so technically it's named after its founder Francis Marion Drake, but that's not important. What is important is that Drake pulled a fast one on the students there. He brought his Summer Sixteen Tour to Des Moines Tuesday night and rocked Drake University gear during the show, making it seem like their wish was finally about to be fulfilled.

Afterwards, however, he was nowhere to be found. The school's official Twitter account eventually made the disappointing announcement: Drake hadn't shown up.

Then, just when all hopes were dashed, Drake delivered. Well, sort of. He showed up deep into the night when the students were asleep, posing for pictures on campus and standing outside of Greek life houses. “Look. Kappa Kappa Gamma, I’m outside your sorority house now and you’re all asleep,” Drake said via Instagram stories. “Kappa Alpha Theta we out here waiting on you. We waiting on you!”

While the students didn't end up getting to meet Drake, they can still rest easy knowing that their campaign was technically a success. Maybe next time they can get him to show up during the day.
