In the latest terrible internet trend, #CutForBeyoncé emerged in the wake of the star tearing out her earring at a Tidal concert earlier this week. The hashtag seemed to show dedicated Bey fans cutting and injuring themselves in apparent solidarity with the star. Some of the tweets just mentioned the act, while others included graphic photos of cut wrists and ears. Complex has chosen not to include those photos.

Although the hashtag is disturbing, there's not a lot of evidence that it's actually real. Some may remember that #CutForBieber became a trending topic back in 2013. Although it also grabbed headlines throughout the country, it turned out to be scheme hatched by 4chan users to troll Bieber fans. These trends do have a tendency to take on a life of their own, however, and it's certainly possible that the fake origins of the hashtag might lead to real actions by others.

Regardless, you obviously should not #CutForBeyoncé, #BleedForBeyoncé, or do anything else for Beyoncé aside from buy and support her music.
