Chicago via Alabama rapper Mick Jenkins debuted the latest track, "Fall Through," off his forthcoming debut album, The Healing Component, as Zane Lowe's Beats 1 World Record Tuesday.

Lowe was quick to point out Jenkins' penchant for unusual time signatures and tempos, which the MC said only came together for him after practice. "For me, it comes naturally now. At a point, I wanted to hop out of structure," he explained. "While I'm a great rapper and theres bars I can unpack for days. I wanted to work more on the melodic aspect of songs."

The slinky, lo-fi track follows the warbling, poetic layout of the album's previously released tracks, the Sando-produced "Spread Love," and the BADBADNOTGOOD assisted "Drowning," which dropped with a cinematic visual depicting a dramatic runaway slave tale.

It turns out there is still a lot of other music that Jenkins already has on deck, including songs that didn't end up working for this album that he is going to put on the next record. "I'm taking a different direction on the next album. This is just the introduction to the idea that love is a healing component...I'm 10 songs in to my next album."

In August, Jenkins announced his new album along with the project's entire 15 song tracklist that includes features from BADBADNOTGOOD, theMIND, Noname, and Xavier Omar as well as production from Kaytranada. Listen to "Fall Through" below and look out for The Healing Component, which is set to drop on September 23.
