"Through the Wire" Is Trending on Twitter For the Most Ridiculous Reason

Someone is trying to say Kanye West was never in the car crash that gave us the gift of "Through the Wire."

After spending years trying to get multiple hip-hop labels and artists to give him a chance, Kanye West finally broke through with "Through the Wire," his debut single from his three-times platinum debut album The College Dropout. The single not only used a sample of Chaka Khan's "Through the Fire," but was literally spit through the wire, as Kanye's jaw was wired shut because of a car accident he sustained in October of 2002.

Not sure if it was the fact that he was on life support while being attended to at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (which is the same hospital that Biggie Smalls died in) that caused Kanye to pen this moving song, but if you checked out the Trending Topics on Twitter, you'd see a totally insane conspiracy theory going around regarding how Kanye ended up in that hospital bed.

It would appear that this is the tweet that set off this firestorm.

And what's crazy is Kanye still got the world thinking he was in a bad car accident October 2002😂all Im'a say is come to Chicagoland and ask

This lead to some hood lore about the reason why Kanye was so injured while in those now-famous hospital photos.

@whysotrill plus more to that

While there are no receipts for this particular story, this set Twitter down a rabbit hole.

"Ye, is it true you got beat down in Chicago in October 2002 and used "Through the Wire" to cover it up?"

kanye faking "through the wire" to cover up a fistfight might be one of the funniest conspiracy theories ive ever heard
Kanye West wasn't in a car accident?!?!?!?!? Through The Wire wasn't true?!?!? Dude my whole life is one big lie now WTF

Of course, all of Twitter isn't blindly jumping off the cliff about this story (with no real facts), and responded in kind.

Wait are people up saying the car crash that inspired Through the Wire was a lie? I would like to be excused from this narrative.
The Same people on here thinking Lloyd was saying she's 5'2 now saying through the wire was fake pic.twitter.com/rM0b2YjnTd
no through the wire slander will be tolerated on my tl that's an instant block
Niggas who think Through The Wire is fake also think Tupac is still alive 😂✌
Dumbass hater: Kanye lied about the accident that inspired Through the Wire

As of right now, Kanye hasn't made any comment on this situation; maybe it's because he doesn't have his phone anymore. Either way, it's hard to take any of this seriously without concrete information that will negate what we've known for the last 14 years. But hey, it's a great reason to revisit both "Through the Wire" and Kanye's brilliant debut album.

And make sure you're copping tickets to ComplexCon; Kanye West is headlining Night 2!
