George Stroumboulopoulos Changes Direction With YouTube Music Channel

The former 'Hockey Night' host returns to his roots, now with a revampled YouTube channel.

For almost two years, George Stroumboulopoulos was the face of beloved television staple, Hockey Night In Canada. The former Much Music VJ, had segued into the hosting gig, after an incredibly successful run on his own interview show, The Hour. While his rep was at an all-time high, the move to Hockey Night was quickly questioned by traditionalists. Critics claimed that Strombo's expertise was strictly in music and not sports, and that his new employer was simply attempting to appeal to younger audiences. Despite holding his own during the stint at HNIC, CBC confirmed this summer, that George would be replaced by stalwart, Ron Maclean.

Following his departure, it made perfect sense that Strombo would turn his focus back to music. While working at CBC, he hosted the very popular radio program, The Strombo Show. On-air, George was able to spotlight rising Canadian acts, and give love to his own favourite artists. Now, this focus continues on another media platform. In a sizzle reel uploaded to his personal YouTube channel, Strombo promises us a slew of  incoming, live content. Dubbed the "Strombo Sessions", George's YouTube channel will continue its operations, but in a new and larger capacity. The series has already brought us great performances by The Kills, ArkellsBadBadNotGood, and many more. You can watch the teaser below, via YouTube. Expect more great Strombo Sessions, as they continue to drop in the near future.
