At the end of May, Sheffield MC Rawkid—whom we featured as one of our 15 MCs outside London that you need to know—dropped his new single "That You, Yeah?" and now he's back with the gritty visual treatment. Filmed in a disused building, but with an unusually pleasing aesthetic, the video sees Rawkid stomping his way round the decaying settings, cutting in the occasional shape along the way. The obvious comparison here would be a classic boxing movie, with Rawkid pacing the cracked concrete with his hood up, cracking his knuckles and contemplating in anticipation of the big fight. Over Kenny Davis' strings-led production, Rawkid lays out his distinctive flow that discusses Sheffield and the fact, in Rawkid's words, "there isn't really a Sheffield grime scene; it's more about crews and certain individuals." With that in mind, watch the video above and then dig deep into Sheffield's rising stars.
