Lil Wayne served eight months in prison in 2010 after pleading guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. In the years following his release, the rapper talked about publishing a memoir that focused on his time at Rikers Island. He even teased the book’s cover in 2012 and announced the project would drop in May 2013.
As we all know now, the book was never released. And as each year went by, fans became increasingly convinced that the plan had been canned. But it appears that wasn’t the case. As pointed out by XXL Mag, the book will hit shelves this fall.
The memoir, titled Gone ‘Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island, is slated for an Oct. 11 release. Fans can pre-order the highly anticipated project on the Apple Store, Barnes & Noble, Books a Million, and other book sites.
The memoir will be published by Penguin, which has released the following description, "From rap superstar Lil Wayne comes the long-awaited GONE 'TIL NOVEMBER, a deeply personal and revealing account of his time spent incarcerated on Rikers Island for eight months in 2010."
Hopefully he’ll dish about the time a prison guard was fired for trying to sneak a peek at him in his cell. Or maybe he’ll finally clear up the rumors about Drake sleeping with prison guards when he’d go to Rikers for a visit. Whatever its contents, we're sure the book will be a good read. Let's just cross our fingers it will actually drop this fall.
