Premiere: Jovel's "The Heroine" Tells The Heart-Breaking Story Of Watching A Friend Succumb To Addiction

"Helpless and broken, she smiles to hide the fear..."

It's a bleak thought but, if we're honest, there's a very good chance we all know at least one person whose life has taken an unfortunate turn towards substance addiction. While we of course know how destructive addiction can be, there have been countless tales of just how distressing such a life can get—the history of art and music is littered with it. Few, however, can tell such a story whilst being sensitive too the plight, or even being convincingly sympathetic. Except Jovel. In his new video, "The Heroine" (taken from his debut EP The Void, due June 24), Jovel explains in unflinching detail how beautifully euphoric the highs can be, before throwing us straight down into the abyss. In little more than a few seconds we're told of a girl so high she forgets she even has a child, before finding out that child was taken away by social services. It may be hard to believe, but the tale gets even darker still. Watch this, soak it in and then make sure you have a loved one on hand to comfort you.
