Mashups can be terrible, but sometimes people get them so right that they create one completely genius new song. That is exactly what happened when New York producer Yuri Beats decided to blend Drake's If You're Reading This, It's Too Late opener, "Legend," with Father John Misty's "Holy Shit." Yuri delicately strings the two together, weaving Drake's butter-whipped raps with FJM's track provides a skittering, high-pitched glassy surface that gives them the vocals just enough room to bounce. The result is something so pure and silken and good that will compel you to play it all over again.
"I'm a huge fan of Drake and Father John Misty. Both 'Legend' and 'Holy Shit' really touched a nerve for me," Yuri tells Noisey. "They both manage to articulate something beautiful and painful that really resonated with me." Clearly, it resonates with Father John Misty also. No word from Drake on what he thinks of the track yet, but he's probably somewhere celebrating his first No. 1 track in Canada right now and preparing for the impending release of VIEWS.
