Organic and synthetic textures come together on the new EP from Elabor8.

Though he spends much of his time fostering the talent of others, south Londoner Elabor8's first love has always been electronic music. With a clear interest in electronica that works both in and outside of the club, his new EP looks to blur the lines between those two. Waste Time (out Apr. 15) mixes the organic sounds and airy textures of Four Tet and Bonobo with wider influences like techno and UK garage. The effect is like the club equivalent of a flower growing in concrete; organic textures springing up from their synthetic confines. All that aside, "OK Erm", the lead track from his new EP, is music that works well in a club setting but with enough nuance and surprising moments (and of course high-end production) that it works outside of that environment too.
