Lil Yachty is an impressive musical force, who is also taking a huge interest in the country's upcoming presidential election. "Right now, I'm rooting for Bernie Sanders," the rapper tells CNN in a new interview. "Not just because he was, you know, with the Civil Rights Movement, but just because of everything he stands for." Yachty goes on to explain that it was fellow rapper and Based God Lil B that first made him take notice of the candidate since he was so vocal about his support for Bernie. Yachty also keeps it very classy and positive, refusing to take the bait and say anything negative about Bernie's controversial political opponent, Donald Trump. "Boat for Sanders, okay? We're going to keep it positive."

Lil Yachty also expresses his own ambitions, saying he hopes by the next election he will have an even greater influence on people so that he can be a voice of inspiration for everyone who thinks their voice doesn't count. "A lot of my fans tell me all the time they don't feel like their voice matters. You know, I think people are just following the masses and I don't think they even really know what each side holds." Yachty impressively takes a moment to dish out some invaluable advice for his fans and anyone listening. "It's important that you vote. Everybody's voice matters. If you're not going to vote, at least take the time to do some homework on what's going on." Wise words, Yachty. The rapper actually joins a growing list of artists who support the Democratic candidate including Killer Mike, Scarface, T.I., Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig, and most recently, Grimes and Janelle Monáe.
