Kendrick Lamar’s surprise project, untitled unmastered., debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week. According to Billboard, Lamar’s untitled unmastered. sold 178,000 units. Of that sum, 142,000 were in pure album sales.

Lamar released untitled unmastered. with no promotion or advanced singles on Thursday (Mar. 3) around midnight. The unexpected release of demos from To Pimp a Butterflyworked in his favor as it gave him his second set at No. 1 in less than a year. When TPAB was released on March 16, 2015, it reached No. 1 with 363,000, of which 324,000 were in pure album sales.

The project features eight songs presumably recorded on the dates that are written next to the song titles. It features work from Cee Lo Green, Terrace Martin, Sounwave, Swizz Beatzfive-year-old son Egypt and more.
