If you've been scrolling through your Facebook feed recently, you've probably come across a plethora of seemingly random rappers volleying shots at each other since late last month.
In fact, the whole fiasco was ignited after rapper MLBRN (who is from Melbourne, surprisingly) decided to diss the entirety of Australia and New Zealand, opening up for every damn emcee in both countries to fire off a response. Everything came to a head when Filipino Melbourne rapper Little Jase decided to reply, and shut everything down.
If you're not quite familiar, we've decided to piece everything together and explain exactly what's been going on in the Australian rap scene and get you up to date to this point. Keep scrolling below for a summary of the story so far.
MLBRN Disses Everyone
This video is the one that started it all, and it sees MLBRN throw out an open challenge to any rapper in Australia or New Zealand.
SAMOAN rapper from Melbourne, Australia calling out rappers from Australia AND New Zealand ANNDDD dissed Fortafy!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
TAG A RAPPER who would reply!!
Some have labelled it an obvious attention-seeking move to drive traffic and extend MLBRN's reach, but regardless, it resulted in a bevy of responses from various local emcees.
Little Jase Ethers MLBRN
One of those was fellow Melbourne rapper Little Jase, who decided to unleash the fires of hell on his rival, and the entire scene, totally showing up most of those trying to get at MLBRN. The diss was so good, that MLBRN himself had to give props:
Gotta give it to the brother👏🏽 dude went in hard with this joint! Probably have to be my favourite diss from #MLBRN 😉 loll
Lazy J Responds
Of course, while Jase really decimated this open challenge, there were naturally quite a few others who decided to have a shot, including former X-Factor contestant Lazy J.
