Over the weekend, Major Lazermade history when they performed in Havana, Cuba for an estimated 400,000 attendees. The American electronic group is the first major act to perform in Cuba since the two countries have resumed diplomatic relations. While there, Diplo met up with CBS' Charlie Rose to discuss the massive moment for an episode of "CBS This Morning." The two drove around in a classic car ahead of Diplo, Jillionaire, and Walshy Fire's epic performance. "The music speaks for itself. They don't know who we are. It's just the sound, the music," Diplo told Rose.
Diplo went on to explain the reason behind wanting to perform in Cuba. "I think it's important to play in places like this where the music is still brand new. These are the guys who are going to change it," he explained. "The kids in Havana, the kids in Pakistan, the kids in India -- they're the ones who are going to bring it to a new level." Later this month, President Obama and the Rolling Stones will both head to Cuba, but it's three DJs from America that kicked everything off in the biggest way possible. Diplo also revealed during the interview that he has been working on new music for his Jack Ü project with Skrillex and that fans can expect some music to arrive around Coachella, where they are scheduled to perform.
