This is part of Complex's 'The 1996 Project: Looking Back at the Year Hip-Hop Embraced Success.'

It's not every day that you get the opportunity to get educated on hip-hop history by a bunch of adorable kids. Thankfully, Complex has given you that opportunity with a short-but-sweet recap of 1996, a very tumultuous and exciting year for hip-hop.

Like the coolest school play you've ever seen, the video goes through the year release by release with a series of re-enactment skits that are hilarious even when the topic is a little sardonic. From releases like the Fugees' The Score and the beef between Death Row Records and Bad Boy Entertainment to MC Hammer's bankruptcy and Snoop Dogg's acquittal of murder charges, the children give you the rundown of the highlights—and lowlights—of the year. This is the only 1996 hip-hop history lesson you need.
