Legendary DJ Big Kap, who was a mainstay of the NYC rap scene for years, reportedly passed away this morning. As of now, there are no real details as to what happened, but Funkmaster Flex first shared the tragic news on his Instagram this morning. In 1999, Flex and Kap released the classic The Tunnel album together, which featured the likes of Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G., Jay Z, and many more.

The album eventually peaked at No. 3 on the hip-hop charts and had an ever-lasting impact on the culture. Since the sad news of Kap's passing hit online, numerous members of the hip-hop community have taken to social media to pay their respects to Kap and the legacy that he left behind for the culture. According to Kap's road manager, Ab Traxx, who spoke with Billboard, Kap passed away from a heart attack last night. Traxx said that he didn't think that Kap had any prior heart issues, but that he dealt with diabetes. We'll continue to update this story when more details are made available.

Rest in peace.... Big Kap...
