They don’t want you to listen to Lais’ debut EP.

By “they,” we’re not referring to the omnipresent antagonists that try to interfere with DJ Khaled on the pathway to more success. We’re referring to the people who stole Lais’ producer CVRE’s laptop and backup hard drives.

The Toronto rapper lost a majority of his debut EP as a result of the theft, but rather than let it deter him, the setback only pushed him harder. Over the last couple of weeks, Lais has been re-recording the songs that will make up 114, and interestingly enough, he’s feeling even more satisfied with the new versions. Maybe CVRE getting his laptop jacked was a blessing in disguise.

“‘Cocaine Rain’ itself is kind of self reflective, pretty much realizing that blowing money and doing drugs was just an easy way to cover up any issues I was dealing with,” Lais told Complex over email. “The way the song progresses, it goes with the feel of starting low and hitting that high at the end with the switch up. It's like we're all getting fucked up together." Listen to “Cocaine Rain” below, and stay tuned for Lais’ 114 EP which should arrive soon.
