On January 18, 2015, hip-hop lost one of its greatest tastemakers and visionaries: A$AP Yams. Born Steven Rodriguez, the A$AP Mob founder touched many fans with his Internet savvy and ear for talent, co-signing local acts like Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers early on.
Yams was also a beast on Twitter, tweeting stream-of-consciousness comments about life, hip-hop and much more. It was here that his hilarious personality and spirit shined through.
To commemorate Yams Day on Jan. 18, Bronx native Ajani Brathwaite has created a special gems book that gathers his memorable tweets into one. The book costs $40, and all the proceeds will be donated to the family of A$AP Yams. Think of it as a cool late Christmas gift.
The book is available for pre-order now, but Brathwaite says he'll stop taking orders the day before Yams Day (Jan. 17). You can head here for more information on how to purchase one.
A$AP Rocky, Joey Bada$$, Lil Uzi Vert and more will also celebrate Yams' life with a concert at Terminal 5 in New York City.
