The last we heard from Bobby Shmurda, a judge was trying to up his bail to $2.5 million, but according to TMZ, Shmurda's legal team is still working to get him released. Shmurda's family is reportedly putting together a bail package with collateral and property to cover the balance and get him out—possibly as early as this week.

Of course, Shmurda has already been denied bail a few times. In an interview from October he said that a judge ordered his family to come up with the full $2 million in bail, rather than only the 10 percent normally required. The report indicates that Shmurda's new legal team, which he hired back in October, is confident that the judge will accept this latest bail package, and they're trying to get it submitted into court as soon as possible.

Shmurda has been in jail since he was arrested on conspiracy weapon and drug charges at the end of 2014, and his new trial date is currently scheduled for Feb. 22. Alex Spiro, who is Shmurda's lead attorney, gave no comment to TMZ about the possible bail package, but we'll continue to update as more details come out.
