"Time", the title track from Shanay's debut EP, was released earlier this year to much acclaim—quite an achievement for a debut. It's not just the critics singing her praises, the adulation's been coming in thick and fast with producers queuing up round the block to rework Shanay's music. The latest is Daktyl, a producer you'll no doubt remember from his remix of Everything Everything's "Regret" earlier in the year. His re-imagining adds some stuttering drums and space-age synths for a track that straddles the worlds of pop, R&B, club music and a few other sounds in between. Cleverly, the added percussion gives the track a certain urgency since, as the refrain tells us, Shanay "ain't got no time to waste."
