We're not sure quite what you'd call Sixtus Preiss' new single "Lololo", with its big, brash synths and sawtooth percussion. Whatever it is, there's very little like it out there. Much of his press materials warn the reader from simply labeling him a "jazzman" but clearly the boundless experimentalism of the genre has influenced him greatly. The multi-instrumentalist has made quite a name for himself back in Vienna with some genre-smashing collaborations such as his work with Kompost3 or the musicians of Jazzwerkstatt Wien for example. Here, however, Preiss strikes out on his own with bags of conviction and a hell of a tune to boot.
