Premiere: Chiefs' 'Demon' EP Strikes The Balance Between Power & Beauty

Big bass, snappy beats and just the fainest hint of dancehall and '90s dance music.

It wasn't that long ago that Australian producer Chiefs released the track "Demon", but thankfully, he's seen fit to return with a full EP of the same name. The dancehall leanings of the eponymous track, which featured vocals from Beayz, coupled with the gliding, epic production, made for a unique sort of club music. Elsewhere on the EP, which came out today, we see more of that expansive production style where each element is deployed with plenty of space to breathe for maximum impact. He also makes prudent use of the striking vocalists on each track. Both Beayz and LaraLiz (who features on closing track "Shooter") are allowed to take centre stage, giving each singer's vocals ample opportunity to flourish. It's a strong gambit from a young Australian who balances experimental beats and club bangers as if he's been doing it since the dawn of time.
