In how-did-this-person-not-already-have-a-star news, it has been announced today that Mariah Carey is finally getting the Walk of Fame star she so deserves. The pop icon has has had one of the most successful careers in music with 18 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, more than 200 million albums sold and more awards than she could count on her famous episode of MTV's Cribs including five Grammy Awards.

Of course, there's also Mariah's latest album release #1 To Infinity released in May featuring all of her No. 1 singles that served as the set list for Mariah Carey's current sold-out, headlining residency of the same name at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. With the guest speakers already lined up to include Chairman and CEO of Epic Records LA Reid, Academy Award-nominated director, actor, producer Lee Daniels and filmmaker, producer, director and close friend Brett Ratner, the event is sure to be a star-studded affair.

So why the hell did it take so long for Mariah to receive a star? Politics? Glitter flopping? Who knows but we will all be glad to see her get the star recognition she so deserves.
