Kanye West Will Perform at Pan Am Games Closing Ceremonies in Toronto

Give this man all the gold medals.

Last week, the New York Times painted a picture of a city that could not be bothered to care about hosting the Pan Am Games. The article called out “an indifferent Toronto,” anchoring itself with a snarky quote from Mayor John Tory: “I think the only sport that we’re not playing in the Pan-Am Games is sort of moaning and groaning.”

On behalf of Toronto, I’ll say it: we care now. Kanye West is coming, and if we didn't care before, we care now. Ok?

A tweet posted earlier this morning on the official Pan Am Games account confirms Kanye West's impending appearance at the games, and it's assumed that means he'll be performing at the closing ceremonies. Although it'll likely be a short set, given that the ceremonies are televised, it brings the city one step closer to shaking off the apathy, and turning up in the name of Pan-American relations.

Maybe we should change the name of the HOV lane to the ‘Ye lane. Just a thought.
