While promoting the upcoming film, SouthpawEminem recently spoke with The New York Times about the film, and also shared some interesting thoughts on the state of hip-hop and what he's listening to today. "I try to stay up on everything that’s out. I love [Lil] Wayne, Drake, Big Sean, Schoolboy Q. I love Kendrick [Lamar]. I just try to pay attention to what’s out," Eminem said.

Em also revealed that he loves the way Kendrick puts albums together, but also said it needs the likes of Big Sean and Drake to create a balance. "I feel like hip-hop is in a good place right now. There’s this balance of things going on, and it feels like some of the best rappers are the most successful. Sometimes that’s not the case," Em shared. As far as the status of a new solo project from himself, he said he hasn't actually started on an album, but is more just trying to figure out what he wants to do next musically. However, Em is featured on the upcoming Southpaw soundtrack, which is available for pre-order on iTunes here. Eminem's full New York Times interview can be read here
