HOLYCHILD know pure elation. While the duo had me with the salacious hooks of their 2014 MINDSPEAK EP released on Glassnote Records, it was their live show in NYC last year that cemented my fandom as lead singer Liz Nistico commanded The Westway's stage with an unfiltered electric presence accompanied by bandmate Louie Diller. The duo have since been on a continuous stream of live shows including South by South West and opening for Passion Pit as they finished their debut album The Shape of Brat Pop to Come out today. With a grant to study Sugar Daddy relationships at The George Washington University where the two met, Liz's fascination with how these relationships, wealth and beauty standards are perpetuated by pop-culture seamlessly bled into the fabric of their album. From the candy-coated "Happy With Me" that explores the objectification of women to the most recent single "Money All Around" whose pop-up video theme strikes a chord of nostalgia as the blurbs examine our behavior and values going as personal to bluntly identify Liz's own insecurity with her weight that day. It's a refreshing display of honesty, self-examination and playful lyrical wit glazed in sugar-synths and delectable choral runs that easily lodge themselves in your ear.

Stream The Shape of Brat Pop to Come in its entirety below, on Spotify or on iTunes out now on Glassnote Records. Catch HOLYCHILD at one of their upcoming shows including performances at this year's Governor's Ball and Lollapalooza and Fall tour with Walk The Moon (dates here).
