Shad to the rescue.

As we previously reported, Queens rapper Action Bronson was removed from the lineup of a free show at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square as part of NXNE. Citing misogynistic lyrics, an online petition racked up 40,000 supporters and a ton of media attention, resulting in statements by Toronto mayor John Tory and festival organizers. Action's show has yet to be rescheduled or moved to an indoor venue, and his time slot on the outdoor stage remains vacant—until now.

An announcement earlier today confirmed that Canadian rapper (and host of the CBC radio show q) Shad, is set to replace Bronson. Shad's lyrical content is a contrast to the incendiary ones that spurred protest, and should appease petitioners and hip-hop fans in general.

The free show is set to take place on June 21st at 6:00PM, with support sets from Nue, Casey Veggies, and Ty Dolla $ign
