Christ Bearer isn’t a household name, but most of us who follow hip-hop news know why he’s famous. The Wu-Tang affiliate (part of the West Coast Killa Beez crew and one half of California duo Northstar) is known for a suicide attempt, where he cut off his penis and jumped off a second story balcony.
Christ Bearer, whose real name is Andre Johnson, has spoken about the incident in numerous interviews, even confirming that doctors were unable to surgically reattach his severed penis. In his latest sit-down with Vlad TV, he talks about his history with RZA and the Wu-Tang Clan and gives more a detail on what led to the headline-making incident.
When he was younger, Christ Bearer says he was getting high on various drugs, including PCP. He recalls a particular moment in his life when he was staying at friend’s house with a few other people. He wanted to use their phones to call his baby mommas, but was feeling depressed over trying to talk to his kids and paying child support. When asked why he cut off his penis, he didn’t give a straight answer, but says he’s proud of what he’s done. “I’m the only man that did what the fuck I did. And I’m proud of it,” he says. “Cause why in the eons of history, I don’t think anybody ever did it…I probably made the biggest mistake in history, but I’m proud of that.”
It only gets weirder. He goes into more specifics, pointing out that he wanted to give himself a vasectomy to force himself to stop sleeping with other women.
