"Very First Breath", the lead single from Hudson Mohawke's new Lantern LP, has proved divisive to say the least. Coincedently, in a world where change is constant, people are terrified of an artist exploring new ground. Did we really want the same festival bro-trap until the end of time?
Anyway, the video has been directed by Sam de Jong and sees two lovers (who could quite easily have been characters in The Warriors) struggling to reconnect with one another. Look out for the twist at the end and see if you can work out what on earth is going on.
Lantern, which Warp will release on June 14, is HudMo's second album and his most collaborative yet with guest spots from Antony, Miguel, Jhené Aiko, Ruckazoid, Devaeux and, of course, Irfane who lends his vocals to "Very First Breath".
