While some heads might not realize it, the world of electronic music is much more broad than you'd think. About a year ago, the world really started taking notice of Houston native Ape Drums, who brings a definite dancehall flair to his tracks. He's been producing since he was 15, has already collaborated with dancehall don Vybz Kartel, and has dropped tracks for Diplo's Mad Decent imprint, Dim Mak, as well as the mighty Slow Roast. His aim? To not only "make dancehall sound BIGGER," but to bring it to the EDM crowd. His latest, a remix of MUST DIE!'s Tkay Maidza-featured "Imprint," does the damn thing in that regard.

Taken from the "Imprint" remix EP, which is due out on Skrillex's OWSLA imprint on May 7, Ape Drums casts Tkay Maidza's vocals to the side (for the most part), opening up the original's swing and giving it a bright sheen. There's something about throwing that dancehall rhythm underneath that melody that takes things to the next level. Essentially, if all you know is dancehall (or you love dancehall) and are curious with the world of electronic music, this remix is a great intro into Ape Drums, as well as the more tropical vibe that EDM can operate within.

Imprint Remixes also features new versions from Command Q, Petey Clicks & Stranger, Mark Instinct, and Descender. Cop it via OWSLA on May 7.
