Chicago's Kit has been making a case for himself as one of the city's most intriguing under-the-radar rappers since NewWavey, his shadowy 2013 debut. But things really snapped into place last year, with an even stronger sophomore project, Lownt God Rising, produced entirely by fellow Chicagoans Supreme Cuts, that sharpened his dark, druggy vision—in addition to a string of super-promising loosies, including Sasha Go Hard collaboration "I Sell Everything." The Lownt God returned this week with a slurry new song and video, "Light Show" (produced by Hawaiian Gardens). What is lownt, you ask? It's a catchword among Kit and his circle of friends, sort of like the yin to turnt's yang, and it's a vibe you'll easily pick up from Kit's music. No word on whether "Light Show" will appear on Kit's upcoming project (though you can watch the video for "Snitches," its first single, here).
