The Grammys are always a spectacle on the stage, but we all know that the real show is going on in the audience. Here are the top ten crowd reactions that tell the real story of what went down at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards last night.
1. Kim Doesn’t Know What’s Going On
Kim, apparently not an Ed Sheeran fan, decided to remain seated while everyone else applauded for the performance. Looking less coherent than Tony Bennett, she breaks the fourth wall and gazes blankly to camera as a dial-tone plays in her head.
2. Chrissy Teigen Doesn’t Know The Words
During one of many awkward old man/young woman duets from the night, Chrissy Teigen tries to be a good sport and sing along with Jessie J and Tom Jones, but gets caught fumbling the words.
3. Haim Stays Cute, Loves Life
Despite winning the “Taylor Swift’s New BFF Award” last night, Haim was greatly underused. We were, however, lucky enough to get this adorable cutaway of the three sisters living it up during Jeff Lynne’s ELO medley of “Evil Woman” and “Mr. Blue Sky.”
4. Paul McCartney Gets Embarrassed
It was a big night for Kanye West's new prodigy Paul McCartney, and fittingly, he got a ton of camera time. In this slightly too long cutaway, Paul does his best dad-esque dancing, before getting too embarrassed and sitting back down. All Paul wants to do is get his groove on in peace. Can he live?!
5. Beyoncé And Jay Z PDA
Beyoncé and Jay Z celebrated Bey’s win for “Best R&B performance,” and it was too adorable for life. This was a rare glimpse at the Queen Bey during the first two-thirds of the show. Luckily, Beyoncé did later resurface to close out the show with a beautiful tribute to Selma.
6. Frankie Grande Low-Key Hosted the Grammys
Did anyone else feel like Ariana Grande’s brother and Big Brother 16 alum Frankie Grande was the real host of the Grammys? Despite not even being a musician, Frankie racked up more cutaways than Taylor Swift, or even Ariana Grande herself, who seemed to disappear in a cloud of smoke during the first act of the show. If there was one thing that stuck out in the crowd more than Rihanna’s pink loufa dress, it was the top of Frankie Grande’s head as he leaned into every possible shot.
7. Everyone Looking Bored As Hell
With a speech from the Recording Academy President, the Grammys took a moment to remind us that the recording industry needs you to give them your money or else there will be no new artists ever again, or something like that. But unfortunately, everyone in the crowd looked as though they were asleep with their eyes open, or on the verge of death.
8. Lady Gaga Really Wants You To Know She’s Friends With Tony Bennett
Lady Gaga uses Tony Bennett as a leaning post while Tony pretends he can’t see her and stares off into a sunset that isn’t there. Go to your happy place, Tony.
9. Pharrell Can’t Even
It was the unimpressed face felt ‘round the world, as Pharrell seemed to be completely over Taylor Swift's dorky dancing. If he keeps it up, Pharrell could dethrone Prince as the new king of side-eye.
10. Beyoncé’s “Not Again” Face Reels Kanye In
In what was easily the most talked about moment of the evening, Beyoncé and Jay Z look horrified as Kanye runs onto the stage during Beck’s acceptance speech for Album of the Year. Jay Z looks like he's about to burst into tears, and Beyoncé looks as though she is "FourFiveSeconds" from whooping Kanye’s behind before realizing that Kanye spared us all from another “Imma let you finish” moment…well, sort of.
