During my college years spent in Toronto, Keys N Krates used to throw some of the best parties in the city. They've since taken off, and gained nationwide success over the years. It's refreshing to hear them now on a track with OVO affiliate P Reign for a collab that they say, "was well overdue." The electro trio had an idea to do a tripped out track after hearing P Reign's "We Them Niggas" and if you can't tell from the artwork, we're guessing this is what life would feel like on quaaludes.
"A while later after we dropped the Every Nite EP we thought why not turn 'Yes we faded' into exactly that," Keys N Krates explained over email. "We sent the beat over to P and he wrote a nasty ass hook and sent it right back. As soon as we heard the hook, we were all like 'Dude, let's get in the lab immediately and make this into a whole tune with verses and all that.' We went to P's studio and within hours he banged out a crazy song over our beat right in front of us. It was magical, and our first experience like this. Hope you guys dig this as much as we do. Have a drink to it or don't?"
The track is available for free download and won't be part of any upcoming projects, but that shouldn't stop you from hoping for more between the two Toronto artists. Stream "Yes We Faded" below:
