As if artfully pumping the brakes on a speeding automobile, New England-area based bass-smith JSTJR drops a twerk-driven yet somehow deceptively ratchet take on Buraka Som Sistema album single "Toque" as a part of the six-track and free-to-download Buraka Remixes EP. Following the October release of the Lisbon-based bass crew's latest album Buraka, this is six remixes in all, and a worthwhile addition to any working underground DJs digital crate of party smashing rhythms. Angolan kuduro's thumping 140 BPM energy meets the chopping block as the oftentimes Florida-traveling JSTJR blends in some Miami booty-style vibes with a trap-style twist. Sounding like a West African take on ribald rapper Luke's iconic 1992 single "I Wanna Rock," it joins a plethora of other quality work including KKing Kong's pure kuduro work with "Lights Off,"while Robs & Duke drop an even more robust version of album lead single "Vuvuzela," too. Six remixes in all, this is a worthwhile addition to any working underground DJs digital crate of party smashing rhythms.
