We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: the UK house scene right now is absolutely bonkers. The sheer quantity of quality being churned out across the spectrum has been spectacular. Disclosure is Disclosure, Gorgon City's released their debut album, Toolroom Records has been going through a renaissance of their own, the Bristol Sound has been morphing into a worldwide sound with the help of AC Slater’s Night Bass concoction, and guys like Duke Dumont are topping charts left and right with legitimate smashes like “Won’t Look Back.” Now beyond the big names, dudes like The Writer’s Block are also just filling in their own space and doing the damn thing. The trio (Detox, Kam, and Haile) came together to bring out some classic house vibes and are certainly killing it.
Having already garnered support from Radio 1, 1Xtra, the new trio has parlayed their success into a deal with Ultra Music. They kicked off their deal in celebration by first releasing a free refix of “Love Will Never Do Without You” and at the top of September they dropped their first single in “Don’t Look Any Further”–a track with impassioned diva-esque classic house vocals, techy grooves and a shuffling hand-clapping rhythm, and of course phat kick. Just on the strength of these two tracks, we reached out to grab a DAD mix from these dudes. The mix includes TWB tracks of course, but it also features jams from Low Steppa, Tchami, Dusky, Duke Dumont, Claude VonStroke, Tiga, and more. Overall the mix is a heck of deep house, garage-infused house, and just pure vibes. This mix has been on repeat since TWB gave it to us and we’re thrilled to share it with you.
