The MOBO Awards Are Returning to London After 5 Years

Home sweet home for the urban music award show.

MOBO Awards' founder, Kanya King MBE, announced this afternoon that the ceremony will be returning to the capital, after a five years in locations such as Glasgow and Liverpool. Celebrating artists of any ethnicity who make music of black origin, the 19th edition of the MOBOs will be held at the SSE Arena in Wembley.

Having long been a staple in the UK music calendar, reception of ceremonies at the turn of the decade proved fairly lacklustre. Now, though, it seems the MOBOs are undergoing something of a renaissance; last month, they announced a three-year deal with ITV that will see the event shown on the UK's biggest digital station, ITV 2, with a highlights package airing on ITV.

Speaking to Music Week of the new partnership, Kanya King said: "We are thrilled to have the awards returning home this year, even more so after our newly signed three-year agreement with ITV a few weeks ago." Nominees for the award show, on October 22, will be announced later this month.
