When Beyonce's playing your beats for a national audience, you really know you've made it. At least that's the feeling SoCal producer Hit-Boy got when watching the Queen perform three songs he helped produced at her iconic 2014 Video Music Awards performance. We caught up with the 27-year-old producer at the L.A. stop of the Made In America festival, where he shared the fact that seeing Blue Ivy vibe to "Flawless" really put his success in perspective.

Hit-Boy isn't just laying down tracks for Beyonce; he's been producing for everyone from Kanye to Kendrick to Jennifer Lopez since he was 19. It's all part of a hustle, one that also includes his collective HS87, which put out their first album We The Plug in May of this year. He also opened up about who his influences were growing up in Southern California, including Xzibit, King T, and, of course, Dr. Dre, among others. Check out our conversation with Hit-Boy above for more.
