2014's year-long American EDM festival cycle has been fraught with repetitive stories of the type of crowd death, fence-jumping and negative police interaction typically associated with the halcyon days of the hippie generation at Altamont. Proof of this comes from this weekend's one confirmed death, and over 100 arrests at HARD Summer in Los Angeles (seven felonies, 60 misdemeanors and 38 alcohol-related arrests) in one weekend. As well, similar to Ultra Festival's trampling incident, there were fence storming revelers attempting to enter the event for free. While yes, Jack U played a live set and dropped new material, and acts including Destructo and more were present, the constant stream of stories regarding the negative impact of EDM in the festival atmosphere must be balanced with either a display of temperance from crowds, or less felonious behavior overall.
