Minor key synth horns are set against trap-styled drums informing the swelling angst at the start of Capetown, South Africa producer Dunn Kidda's latest release for Enchufada's Upper Cuts series, "Grip." Ominous and tough, the track has the qualities inherent in so many other sounds that are owning dance floors in 2014, while at the same time also owing much of it's unique appeal to when it drops into what can only be referred to as "tropical tech grime." A percolating electro riddim plays point counterpoint against the hard elements remaining of the track's thematic ode to big-room styled trap. Enchufada again succeeds here with yet another feature that's certain to leave dance floors feeling a bit off-kilter yet still able to catch the groove. With "Grip," global dance capital South Africa gets a showcase of what it brings to Enchufada's underground-to-mainstream rising tide.
