In 1984, Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons formally started the legendary record label Def Jam. This marks the company's 30th anniversary, which it will celebrate in grand fashion Oct. 16 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The concert is scheduled to feature both new talents and old school legends, from Foxy Brown to Warren G and Method Man. We just hope the show will find room for some surprise guests—Nas, Kanye West, and LL Cool J, to name a few. In any case, the label has come a long way since its inception in Rubin's Weinstein dorm room at NYU. Check out the flier for the event above. You can preorder a limited edition Def Jam box set—including a booklet written by Big Payback author Dan Charnas, Greatest Hits compilations and more—here.
