There's a wide variety of bassline-thumping tunes that make their way to my ears one way or another, and while bass music still speaks to me in a way that most other music does not, it also suffers from its fair share of homogeny. Seems like there are still so many want to be the next Rusko or Bassnectar or whoever instead of finding their own sound. Enter Kong Speaks, who bears a sound that is at once familiar to those who know the genre but stands 100% on its own, as its own. "Cobalt" is a sprawling and enjoyable high-tempo tune that progresses through exciting ideas from start to finish without sacrificing intensity or over-extending itself. Oh and that third drop, like oh-so-many before it, is an absolute belter.
