It hasn't even been a full calendar year since we got the awesomeness that was Claude VonStroke's last release Urban Animal, and here we are on the precipice of getting something new. CaliFuture is an upcoming three-track EP set to drop later this month via VonStroke's Dirtybird Records and it's delicious even in just it's appetizer form. Acid-tripping basslines and a techy booty-grooving flow pulsate through all of these tracks, but most prominently on the title track.
Barry Drift, CvS's MC friend, made appearances on Urban Animal and he's back on this one as well as he delivers hypnotic sermons into the mix to get you twisted just right. Follow-up track "EYE I EYE" is a jacking tune with an unrelenting rhythmic funk accented by one heck of a tripped-out vocal one-shot sample. It's manipulated, it's finessed, and it's all up in your space; "EYE I EYE" is a late night track not suitable for kids. CvS has once again proved he's not switching up on anyone just because he and his dirtybirds are getting bigger then ever, he's still the same old bird doing the dirty.
CaliFuture is due out via the Birdhouse on July 18, July 21 on Beatport, and on vinyl/iTunes on August 5.
