Chuck D has had it with the state of urban radio. The issue first arose when Chuck spoke about about the prolific use of the n-word at Hot 97's Summer Jam. He also didn't think the lineup for the festival properly showcased New York hip-hop.
Billboard recently spoke with Chuck D, leading to him saying that he wants to change the face and sound of urban radio.
"My goal by year's end is to change the face and sound of urban radio. I've been in this shit 30 years, too long to just sit and let it be. I'm not going to be the grim reaper. I don't want to be the grim reaper. But people have to stand up and we need some change, and it's time."
Though Chuck has engaged with Ebro and Peter Rosenberg on Twitter about his frustrations, he said the discussion needs to be brought up with their bosses and not them. He also stated that he won't be sitting down with them to talk about the issues, but he will continue to voice his frustrations and speak about the situation.
