Tyler the Creator was ecstatic when Mark Ryden did the cover for his last album, Wolf. In exchange, Ryden asked Tyler—along with a number of other artists—to create their own interpretation of the 1892 song, "Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two)."
It's all part of Ryden's art exhibition "The Gay Nineties West" which opened on May 3 at Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles. As part of the project, all profits from the artist's interpretations will be donated to Little Kids Rock.
Tyler wrote the below message on Facebook earlier today:
I WAS 15 AND BLOWN AWAY BY MARK RYDENS ART WORK, IT WAS LIKE THE SHIT THAT REALLLLLLY CONNECTED WITH ME ALL THE BRIGHT COLORS BUT FUCKED UP SHIT, BUT I ALWAYS SAID ONE DAY I'LL GET THIS DUDE TO DRAW ME AND HE DID LAST YEAR ( WOLF ALBUM COVER) AND IN EXCHANGE HE ASKED IF I DID A SONG FOR AN UPCOMING ART SHOW HE HAS ENTILED 'THE GAY 90S'. MYSELF, KATY PERRY AND SOME OTHERS ALL MADE OUR OWN VERSION OF THIS SONG ENTITLED 'DAISY BELL', HERE IS MINE. AND GO LOOK TO HIS ART SHOW IN HOLLYWOOD AND KOHN GALLERY!
