Idris Elba adds the title of director to his long list of accolades. He got behind the camera for the latest release from Pepsi's soccer-themed visual album, Beats of the Beautiful Game. Each of the songs on the 11-track album is treated with a short film directed by major names like Elba, Spike Lee, Jessy Terrero, and Diego Luna, among others.
The short film is set in soccer's "golden era," of the '70's, and features a stereotypical high school nerd as its lead. The nerd turns out to be an absolute boss on the pitch and throws his talent in the face of the the cruel, unrelenting and less-than-talented jocks who bully him. Of course, not only do his skills get the jerks to back off, he also gets the girl of his dreams as a result.
Elba's film is scored by Dutch DJ/Producer R3hab's new song, “Unstoppable,” featuring fellow Dutch dance-music sensation Eva Simons. An anthem celebrating the understated talents within, “Unstoppable” was created exclusively for the album. Check it out on Pepsi Pulse.
