It looks like the City of Chicago will be helping pay tribute to the Godfather of House Music Frankie Knuckles with a special three-hour tribute party on June 3 at "The Bean" in Chicago's Millennium Park. While three hours might sound short, they have a lot of things planned, with opening words from Robert Williams and Alan King and sets from DJs Elbert Phillips, Craig Loftis, Greg Gray, and Mike Winston. All of the DJs had some kind of relationship with Frankie: Winston's a longtime friend and would open for Frankie at the Power Plant. Craig Loftis was Frankie's personal engineer, while Greg Gray interned under Frankie at the Power Plant. Elbert Phillips went from playing a Frankie birthday party in 2002 to touring with Frankie over a four-year period.
This event is free; check out the Facebook event page if you're planning on going.
