Well$ showed off raw lyricism and his sense of style in the video for "Savoir-Faire" (although his grandmother managed to steal the show with her Jordans). On his new single, "Lil Tommy," the spotlight is entirely on the story he tells. Over a stripped down piano loop courtesy of Shurik'n and THE BL∆CK HE∆RTS CLUB, Well$ talks about a school shooting and the environmental motivations that led the two youngsters to attack their classmates and teachers. The Charlotte native's flow is crisp as he enriches his story with sharp details without ever losing focus. The song is aided by the clever sampling of KRS-One, Biggie, and a 911 call.

Well$ said that "Lil Tommy" was inspired by a true story. His cousin was incarcerated due to a shooting. The real-life nature of the song makes it even more poignant. "Lil Tommy" will appear on Well$' upcoming mixtape, MTSYD: Revenge of The African Booty Scratcher. And for those wondering, the title comes from the ethnic shaming and name-calling Well$ experienced as the son of Congolese immigrants growing up in America.
