The Roots started the year off on a high note by making the much-deserved move from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with their hilarious host. Even with the transition and busy work schedule, the celebrated Philly crew made time to record some new music for our listening pleasure.

The Roots will be releasing their new album & Then You Shoot Your Cousin later this year, which includes their new single "When the People Cheer." The song shares an emotional tale about life, one that gets better with each listen. With The Roots prepping for performances at Hot 97's Summer Jam and their own Roots Picnic, this will be the kind of inspirational record that will bring the house to tears. In a good way.

On a related note, The Roots will be performing alongside Nas and Q-Tip later this evening on The Tonight Show.
